Jeanine Kay Halverson

Alumni Remembrance

Jeanine Halverson the daughter of Palmer and Nada (Swartz) Halverson was born January 18, 1953 in Estherville, Iowa. She died on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at her home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 65.

She received her education and graduated from Estherville High School in 1971. Jeanine left Estherville in 1971 to attend Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa. She graduated in 1975 and remained in Le Mars to work for the college recruiting new students.

She moved on to serve as Activities Director for Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, North Carolina and later performed a similar role at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowan and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, arranging fresh flowers, singing and playing piano. She sang at many weddings after college. 

In 1994, she moved back to Estherville to be close to her parents. She held several jobs, with her favorite being a florist at HyVee. 

She was a member of United Methodist Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Jeanine's memory are her sister-in-law, Barbara (Marion) Halverson-Johnson; niece, Marjorie Halverson; nephew, Donald Halverson; and her aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends.

She has been preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Don and John.
