Rich Gruber

Rich Gruber  It is kind of mind boggling when you try to
put into perspective the fact I left Wahoo 46 years ago.  By way of
background, I graduated from Waukon Senior High School, Waukon IA in
1971.  I arrived in Wahoo in the fall of 1972.

Among the fun memories from JFK was being the Public Address Announcer for many, many
basketball games for both the women and men's teams.  I also was editor of
the Profile for a bit and served as an overnight Security Guard for Dean Lloyd
Herbener for a couple of years.  Nearly got run out of campus and town
when I issued about 50 illegal parking tickets the day new rules were
implemented.  I was equal opportunity as no one was spared, students,
faculty, neighbors...

From Kennedy, I went to graduate school at the
University of Wyoming in Laramie.  I fell in love with Laramie when I did
a rescue drive there to collect softball team members stranded there when
another Kennedy van broke down.  I rediscovered radio at KUWR FM in
Laramie and have enjoyed it as an avocation ever since at a variety of
stations across the Midwest.   For the next 30 years I served as a
local government executive in Iowa, Nevada, and Wisconsin.

The last 20 years have been highlighted
by a career in Health care as an exec with a
Baldrige-winning Healthcare System here in Wisconsin while also teaching a
Public Policy and Healthcare Administration course at Norte Dame.  The
last 5 years, I've served as an elected official in Janesville WI most recently
as City Council President.

Along the way, I married my bride of 43 years,
Lee, raised a couple of kids and have generally enjoyed a pretty rewarding
life.  My two and a half years at JFK were a real highlight in the midst
of it all.

My home address is 4212 Orion Drive, Janesville WI.  My phone is 608.921.1483.

Thanks for the opportunity to start the
reconnection process.
